We welcome Second Life creators and developers to create content for Obsidian using our Dev Kits and Communication API.
Communication API Scripts
We included a lot in the box that Obsidian comes in. Here are the key scripts you may find useful as a creator:
- API script — this script is included in the Obsidian box with
COPY|TRANSpermissions. It unpacks under the/devfolder. API script included enables communication with Obsidian owned by the same user and can be used immediately to create content for you and others.- ‘Customized’ API Script for cross-owner device communication requires approval — see Apply for ‘Customized’ API Script.
Even if you do not have such a script, you can overcome this obstacle by using a proxy/relay device worn by the other owner to establish communication with their Obsidian.
- AVsitter Plugin — use the AVsitter plugin to play
.OBS/.obsoverlay animations and save & restore “angles”. This plugin is included in the Obsidian box withCOPY|TRANSpermissions. It unpacks under the/devfolder.- If you also need to support the pre-2025 Aeros AVsitter Plugin — LEGACY Plugin — the AVsitter Dev Kit includes both the LEGACY Plugin and the new Obsidian AVsitter Plugin to allow furniture creators to choose which path to take depending on their requirements. We update it independently from Obsidian releases.
